Which are heavy goods?

General Concepts.

Heavy loads and / or bulky load is that, due to their size, shape and / or weight, requires special treatment. Voluminous charge is in relation to cargo planes, cargo that does not fit on a pallet, ie, loose machines, tubes, cable drums, aircraft engines, automobiles, etc. By accepting heavy goods and / or bulky, in in which case they come packaged, special attention should be paid to the characteristics of the package. When it is considered that the packaging is not adequate to withstand the accelerations that the load will be submitted during the flight, the goods must be rejected. In the case where the products are formed by a set of parts that may collapse, the packaging must be able to resist sideways and the upper part able to withstand a possible rollover, thereby preventing scattering of the products.

All packages weighing more than 150 kg:

Should be fixed individually down when loaded in a container or waiting 5 (bulk). Where it is necessary to increase the surface area contact “cards” load distribution must be installed in order to distribute the load over the base. The maximum weight of each package weighed (HEA) depends on the type of aircraft (according to the strength of the floor) and the airport facilities (equipment and manpower in order to pre-telex advice should be sent informing you of the referral HEA).
